Privacy Statement for Dr Rob Elliott, Orthopaedic Surgeon,
Consulting at Axis Sports Medicine, and Beyond Radiology Specialists Suites.
By accepting health care services from us, you agree we can collect information about you from other agencies for the purpose of maintaining an up-to-date health record and providing safe and quality secondary health care. This may include:
From other health providers and shared health records:
Receipt of laboratory, radiology or other results
Accessing authorised national or regional health information systems including region specific ESCR (Electronic Shared Care Record) to support your care by checking your medical history, laboratory or radiology results and current prescribing
Receipt of correspondence from hospitals, emergency departments, after-hours providers, specialist services, allied health providers or other secondary and community care providers – including discharge summaries, outpatient or specialist letters
Proactively contacting a hospital or specialist service to follow up on a referral or seek advice or an update on your care, or gain further details of your health record deemed necessary for Orthopaedic care and mitigating peri and post-operative surgical risk, where that contact results in information about you being shared with us
Receipt of letters from corresponding specialists involved in your care including results, or notifications regarding attendance or non-attendance
Clinical photographs, videos or radiology images may be collected and stored for the purpose of record taking, gaining second opinions from colleagues or teaching doctors in training. Your verbal permission will be sought prior to taking these images. You may request deletion of these images at any time.
Complaints
If concerns are raised about the care or services we provide, we may disclose relevant health information to our regulators, insurers, indemnity providers, or legal advisers for the purpose of managing and responding to the concerns.
Your rights of access and correction
Under rules 6 and 7 of the Health Information Privacy Code, you have the right to request access to the health information this practice holds about you, and request correction of that information, if you believe it to be inaccurate.
Use of AI Scribe
Dr Elliott uses a medical AI (Artificial Intelligence) platform to record and transcribe the consultation. Confidentiality and personal data protection is guaranteed by the provider. This enables detailed record taking and creates a comprehensive summary of the consultation. Dr Elliott edits and adds to this transcript to create a letter. The diagnosis, management plan and examination findings are dictated by Dr Elliott.
A copy of this consultation will be sent to you for your records, meaning you do not need to take detailed notes during the consultation. Please inform Dr Elliott if you have any questions about this process, or do not wish to have a recording and summary of the consultation made.
Alternatively, if you do not wish for the AI Scribe to be used, a letter will be dictated in the traditional fashion. You will be sent a copy of this, but the letter will be briefer by comparison and will not include a detailed transcription of the consultation.
Financial Disclosure
Dr Elliott, or family entities associated with him, hold shares in North Shore Surgical Centre. Dr Elliott performs day surgery at this facility. He is confident that the centre provides high-quality care for day surgical patients, with modern equipment and staff who specialise in arthroscopy procedures. If you are not comfortable having surgery at North Shore Surgical Centre, you may request that your procedure be performed at an alternative hospital where Dr Elliott operates.
Dr Elliott, or family entities associated with Dr Elliott, hold shares in Beyond Radiology and Infratil (majority owner of Auckland Radiology). He enjoys a strong relationship with their radiologists and has easy access for rapid verbal reporting and queries. He believes their imaging and reporting quality is of the highest standard. As a consumer, it is your right to choose where to have your imaging performed. All alternative practices will accept our radiology referrals. We can not guarantee the quality of images and have little influence on image sequences performed at alternative radiology practices.
